lol
story of my life... I'm trying to deal to get him... the problem is the cost is Cliff Lee, but I would also get a much needer closer in the deal

Torri Hunter
OF COURSE NOT

Message #7 by Rob Reed @ July 6, 2010, 07:28am
you did great
Did you get that 2 HR game? Great pickup...

Torii Hunter
Even though I value Lester more then him I had to trade Lester for Hunter in my keeper league. I have good pitching but needed offense and no one was dealing offense at all this year. Losing Heywerd and falling to far out of the league I needed to get some help somewhere.

alert!
just saw him go in the TENTH round of a 10 team mock draft -- CRAZY!!!! If I got Torii in the THIRD round, I would feel pretty pleased.

This is an interesting thing to watch in the preseason....

Injury curtailed a stellar season...
once again, if the folks in your league believe Torii is overrated, get him for cheap. A bargain might still be had because his stellar stats in 2009 are hidden as a result of his missing over a month due to a groin injury.

He had a pretty bad September... let that negatively influence others in your league to your advantage.

spot on
I think you're spot on, jc... I don't get how folks aren't that interested in him. I recently was talking a baseballgeeks listener in a chatroom who hails from Minnesota who actually wasn't much of a fan, either, and in fact went out of his way to say that he (a Twin fan) thinks Torii is overrrated, too.

Your stat projection is what anybody should expect, and I absolutely agree that as a 5th OF, you can't do much better.

Underrated now...
I think back in 07 when you posted this, Torii was "overrated;" a quiet year in Anaheim might work to your advantage for 09.

I've been picking him up in Mock Drafts for $11 or less.
An absolute "almost" 5 Category bargain as a 5th OF?

I think so...

I'm hoping for 80R-20HR-80RBI-.270AVG-20SB

Yeah, I'd pay $11 for that line.

: )

Overated?
Personally, I think he is. Granted is defense is awesome. This guy just doesn't hit for average good enough for me & he seems to strikeout a lot. His power numbers are okay, but not great.
