o's designate him for assignment
And, too bad, too... lots of potential here, unrealized. Only 30 years old. I don't think he's done yet (for 2010, though, he probably is).

Message #10 by Rob Reed @ March 15, 2010, 09:21pm
did you know
Camden Yards was a better HR park than Coors last year?

That's something to get excited about for a Coors renegade who is one year removed from 21-99, and who suffered from some of the worst luck in all of the majors last year!

Message #9 by Rob Reed @ December 12, 2009, 03:36pm
happy birthday, we don't want you!
the rockies have non-tendered Atkins... to be expected... BUT he was the huge recipient of bad luck last year. Rumor mill has the Orioles interested, and this is not a bad fit.

The problem for fantasy is that Atkins leaving Coors spells disaster for his power numbers...

Bad luck was the reason for the season last year... a different park will be a reason for dwindling fantasy value next year, but his average should return to .280-.300 levels easily.

davis
I am a sucker for power... I really like Atkins, but between the two, I go Davis.

Message #6 by Rob Reed @ June 4, 2009, 08:24am
if his BABIP was where it was last year
he'd be hitting nearly .300

this is another guy who has suffered from a ton of bad luck... i would stash him and not give up on him... but stash until he starts showing signs of turning it around

Message #5 by Rob Reed @ May 8, 2009, 12:11am
dependent on need
kotchman, as i've said in the past, is a lock for a .300 avg... jacobs is a lock for 30 HRs... i think Atkins is a lock for solid numbers all around... Atkins' BABIP through the end of April was in the .240s... add 70 points to his average at the end of april means that with average batters' "luck," he should have been hitting around .300

he'll be fine... i say ride him out... but, if you are lacking in HR and would not be hurt by a .250ish avg, Jacobs is your man... if you need avg shored up with power numbers and SBs taken care of, Kotchman...

if it were me, i think i stick with atkins... i don't have atkins in any of my leagues, though...

Patience or boot him?
I drafted Atkins as my first baseman in a mixed league that has no bench, and he's not helping me with his bad average. Guys like Casey Kotchman, Billy Butler, and Mike Jacobs are available on waiver wire. Should I hold him or replace him on my roster this early in season?

maybe..........
I'm just drinking a bit too much kool-aid. We'll see.

Message #2 by Rob Reed @ 3/20/07, 7:09pm
The question is...
where did he come from? He had a meteroic rise on PlayerTrack and that scares me a LOT. 173 to 14 in one year!

That leads me to believe that we won't see a repeat of last year's numbers, but maybe somewhere in between? He had over a 50 point jump in BA.

He is the Jermaine Dye of 3Bs. It will be very fun to watch what both Dye and he do this year...
