In fact, he is the #5 catcher in all of baseball according to PLAYERtrack, and when looking only at catchers with a minimum of 20 games played and 300 min ABs, he is the #2, behind McCann. And, for the most part, he did it quietly, evidenced by dispute that the Pirates should keep Doumit. The explanation for Doumit's success might lie in his contact rate. He made contact with the ball 87% of the time he took an at bat... that's 12% above his previous 3-year average of 75%. His BABIP only went up a slight .12 from 2007 (where he had a 76% contact rate). If Doumit can keep making contact then, offensively, he is a very nice catching option for fantasy purposes.
