As a surprise to PLAYERtrack subscribers, I've done a mid month update, with all results/rankings current through May 18, 2010.
I also added a new pitching category, per popular request: QUALITY STARTS.
Enjoy.
Comments and suggestions are always appreciated (and often incorporated into the system). A podcast is coming in the next few days on these latest results!
PLAYERtrack bug fixed

Because I have not figured out a simple way to update the number of games played at a position (not yet, at least), there was a bug in the overall rankings that would not allow offensive players to be seen (it was set to only show players who played a minimujm of 1 game, so as all players reflect 0 games, it wouldn't show any offensive players).
Hat tip, Everett!
All fixed now.
May 1 Update is LIVE!

The first update of the season is LIVE! If you do not see results, make sure to change the number of at bats, or the number of innings pitched.
I will be working on a method of updating the positions, but for now, the results will only work with "ALL POSITIONS."
Listen to the next PLAYERtrack/BaseballGeeks podcast in the next week for my analysis of these first results!

In the first in-season podcast just before the first PLAYERtrack update podcast next week, I present to you an interview with Peter Wickander of RosterSlots.com, a new way to play fantasy baseball that starts tomorrow. I also talk about the players who top the rankings in some standard 5x5 categories.

Better late than never... I started out frantically trying to get my computer to sync with ESPN... came in RIGHT when my #6 pick was up -- not good for the guy who started the league.
In The PLAYERtrack Lab #1: Standard Deviations

I believe that one of the major things lacking in the PLAYERtrack ranking system is considering the distance between the average player in a category and the highest/lowest in the category.
Because PLAYERtrack doesn't take this into account now, players like Prince Fielder get ranked lower than they probably should have. I discussed this a bit last Tuesday on Kevin Orris' Big O Show.
Just to keep you folks informed, I am currently working on incorporating standard deviations into the mix, which should better rank the players, in my view.
More discussion to come later on this issue once I get it off... [read more]
