by: Rob Reed | June 9, 2010, 5:17pm

Ranking type: contact rate (first to worst), average (worst to first), and BABIP (worst to first). This should help us figure out the unluckiest hitters in all of baseball through the end of May. 150 minimum ABs.

1. David Eckstein, SD, NL, 186 AB, .285 AVG, .325 OBP, 19 R, 1 HR, 186.0 AB/HR, 13 RBI, 4 SB, 1 CS, .800 SB%, 5 K, 11 BB, .455 K/BB, .371 SLG%, 0.696 OPS, 97% CR%, .289 BABIP, .086 ISO

Ridiculous contact rate (97%)? The guy struck out only 5 times in 186 ABs... very impressive. So, he can hit. ... [read more]

by: Rob Reed | May 19, 2010, 4:38pm

As a surprise to PLAYERtrack subscribers, I've done a mid month update, with all results/rankings current through May 18, 2010.

I also added a new pitching category, per popular request: QUALITY STARTS.

Enjoy.

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated (and often incorporated into the system). A podcast is coming in the next few days on these latest results!

PLAYERtrack bug fixed
by: Rob Reed | May 5, 2010, 12:12pm

Because I have not figured out a simple way to update the number of games played at a position (not yet, at least), there was a bug in the overall rankings that would not allow offensive players to be seen (it was set to only show players who played a minimujm of 1 game, so as all players reflect 0 games, it wouldn't show any offensive players).

Hat tip, Everett!

All fixed now.
