Dodgers (and your fantasy squad) should sign Rafael over Manny
by: Rob Reed | December 1, 2008, 5:27pm

If Dodger GM Ned Colletti really wants to prove his mettle (and, I believe we're already passed that after last year's Dodger OF debacle), he should sign Rafael Furcal rather than Manny Ramirez.

Unfortunately, this is not going to happen, according to the L.A. Times (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/
2008/11/rafael-furcal-n.html
). The Dodgers have not talked to Furcal, despite the intense rumor mill of other teams -- specifically the A's -- flirting with Rafael like he's a Maxim model.

Rafael Furcal is a .280+ avg, .350+ obp career lead off hitter, who showed remarkable power last year in his limited play before injury.

And, granted, choosing Furcal over... [read more]

RSS feeds and latest update...
by: Rob Reed | November 25, 2008, 4:42pm

We're coming along. I just finished the RSS feeds, which should be working properly for both this blog and the player updates.

These feeds are stored at friendfeed at the friendfeed "room" located at http://www.friendfeed.com/rooms/fantasybaseball.

I am also finalizing plans for an advert in the Fantasy Baseball Index.

The subscription/sign-up functions are still not live, but I plan to have these finished within the week.

I am working on doing periodic player profile updates. Feel free to add your own opinions!

We're live...

The new incarnation of PLAYERtrack is now live, but there are still plenty of things to add.

The subscription and all-stars pages are not yet available.

Comments and suggestions are encouraged. You can freely comment in this blog section without logging in.

To do...
by: Rob Reed | November 15, 2008, 7:17pm

* RSS file for ALL player updates
* individual RSS file for each individual player
* functions to measure most popular players all-time, daily, weekly, annually, seasonally?
* all-star summaries for best players in each recorded season; probably can do this just with a search function that will look at overall files and show the top position players according to the search
* function to rank players in multiple years -- think i can do this just by looking at overall files of each season
* RAW stat options that don't pro-rate
* subsciption page with new prices and options
* new categories: SB/CS%?

Welcome to the new PLAYERtrack!
by: Rob Reed | November 12, 2008, 3:23pm

If you are a previous user of the PLAYERtrack system, then you should notice a new look and feel right away.

My goal with this latest incarnation is to provide valuable fantasy baseball content as well as the valuable ranking systems in a less cartoonish, more professional manner. In addition, I want to add audio content in the form of a podcast after each update.

The same subscription rules apply. Subscriptions are free, but only paid members can access the entire ranking lists. Free subscribers, however, can see everything on the player profile pages and, in fact, add their own opinions.

The plan is... [read more]
