Another chance to beat the fantasy out of Rob...
by: Rob Reed | April 3, 2009, 5:40pm

If you didn't get a chance to get into any of the Beat the Geek or Playertrack fantasy leagues, one lucky person still has a shot... but, of course, there's a catch.

For 16 years, I have been playing a very fun baseball sim game at baseballmanager.com. It is unlike your normal fantasy game in that the game uses real stats from the night before and simulates ENTIRE games based upon the night before stats.

Thanks to all of the PLAYERtrack subscribers...
by: Rob Reed | April 2, 2009, 4:04pm

When I was in high school, my high school baseball team won the city championship. A member of that championship team, which also happened to include former major league closer Rod Beck, was Pat Chawki.

For years, I had heard from former classmates that Pat died of unknown causes... it turns out, he is very much alive, but he is suffering from Locked-In syndrome.

Read more about it here: http://goodgirlsgive.org/goodgirls_give.html.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover physical therapy treatment that could help Pat get better.

Congrats to the WBC bracket winner!
by: Rob Reed | April 2, 2009, 3:44pm

The winner of our WBC bracket contest is Daigo Fujiwara of daigofujiwara.com!

He had the US, Japan, AND Korea in the final four... and Japan beating Korea in the final... this, as you can imagine, bested -- by a country mile -- everybody else.

Congrats to loyal playertrack user and podcast listener Tyler Mintz who selected Japan to win it all, but he couldn't match wits with the rest of Daigo's picks.

Thanks to everyone who participated!

Just discovered that the rotating graphic at the top of the page creates problems for AOL users... I have removed the graphic from the main page and will probably remove from all of the pages... FYI
