just read what i said before :)
worth the gamble in very deep leagues... I don't expect that he will be anywhere near his spring, though

Fausto Carmona
I had to take a shot on him in my H2H league. I will give him 2-3 starts if he gets rocked I cut bate. But 3-0 in the spring with a .45 ERA hard to pass on.

expect improvement
The Indians are relying on this guy as their #2... I would like his chances more if he was a #4 or #5 in the rotation.

His BABIP and strand rates, last year, indicate that he suffered from bad luck.

What can we expect? I think AT BEST, high 3 ERA... 10-12 wins.

Most likely, a 4.5-4.75 ERA, 10-12 wins, lousy Ks. WHIP in the 1.3's-1.4's.

This DOES make him a solid #4,#5 gamble in AL-only leagues, and I think that is easily where you can get him, considering his last two seasons.

Personally, I am looking to gamble on him in a farm team draft. If he begins the season in the same shape he was in 2008 and 2009, then it won't hurt as much to cut bait.

How the mighty have fallen
I had a conversation with a bartender during the 2007 season where I debated whether Carmona -- midseason -- was going to crash and burn. I said he would. The bartender said no way (he was from Cleveland, of course).

He was right.

But, I sure wish I could have a chat with that bartender now.

Carmona's 2008 FIP indicates a 4.73 ERA was more fitting him. But, that still really, really stinks... especially for a pitcher who was ranked #11 in all of baseball in 2007.
