I feel the same about Ryan as I did last year before the Tigers signed Damon... given a full season, 20 HR and 80 RBI is entirely within reach. And, that's a great 28th rounder.
With the list you have given, personally, I would prefer to lockup the pitching potential of Volquez. He's three years younger than Ryan, and his 2008 makes his potential - in my opinion - much more interesting than Ryan's.
Ryan's success depends in large part on the success of those in his lineup... and there's age in that lineup (Guillen, Maggs), guys who seem to be past peak (Inge, Peralta), and then there's Austin Jackson who is more likely to stink this year.
I'm not saying I wouldn't take Ryan - especially in the 28th - I'm only saying that you have a much more interesting option... and I bet you could draft Ryan in the 27th.

Unfortunately in my keeper league he missed qualifying at 2B by 2 games. Is he worth keeping at a 28th (final) round cost. Do you think of him as a possible breakout player like others in the fantasy arena? My last keeper is between him and the following players all at 28th round price (could all, including Raburn, be kept for 3 yrs): 1) Edison Volquez 2) Colby Lewis 3) Brett Myers 4) Andres Torres 5) Aubry Huff
SP is plentiful so I would be inclined to go with a hitter. My other SP keepers currently are Cliff Lee and Mat Latos at superb value.

great article on Raburn today |
http://www.mlive.com/tigers/index.ssf/2010/03/rick_ porcello_ryan_raburn_have.html
From the article:
“Raburn’s a good big league player now,” Leyland said, “and I’ve got to get creative and get him into the lineup. He’s looking pretty good right now -- especially in the batters box.”
He can play all three outfield positions, every infield position except shortstop, and can even catch.
The versatility and productivity have brought him a niche on this club. Raburn, who turns 29 in three weeks, said this is the first time in his career that he isn’t wondering what his fate will be when the roster is announced.
“I’ve been told that I’ve earned a job,” Raburn said, “and that’s all you can ask for. And it was also nice to have a spring like this.”
What a difference one year can make. |

You make an interesting point, Pat. I'm now regretting that I didn't get Ryan in the farm league draft yesterdau. Somebody else in the league did (who most certainly listens to the podcast... LOL).

don't count him out just yet |
Believe it or not, Ryan has more starts at 2B and 3B in the minors than he does at OF... he is slated to backup Inge...
He is back on my sleeper list... but very deep leagues... and as a last second flyer. If someone wants to get him early, let them.

with the signing of Damon |
He has officially been removed from my sleeper watch list... if, somehow, Raburn starts playing center (he isn't fast enough) or gets traded to someone who will start him, I'll reconsider...
Too bad. He showed a lot of promise last year.

Definitely a sleeper pick to watch...
http://www.couchmanagers.com/baseball/player/?playe rid=455
Couchmanagers has him going from 22nd round to 34th, but mostly 27th and after.
MLB Tiger depth chart currently has him starting in left field.
The low contact rate presents the possibility of a .270ish average, but there is so much to like from these stats... and, as a fifth OF gamble, he is a GREAT pick in my humble opinion.
