This is a steal of a deal
on paper... Hafner could be a monster... if this is an OBP league, it's even more impressive. Personally, I like Hafner's upside much more than Yuniesky...

...but, if there really is absolutely nobody to backup Jeter, I'm not sure that this is worth the gamble.

So, because this is AL-only, I only take this deal if I am absolutely desperate for power... if you have guys who normally are power-based, but who haven't caught up yet, my suggestion is to sit tight and trust your draft.

Trade offer
In my 10 team 5x5 AL-only league someone has offered me Travis Hafner for Yuniesky Betancourt. Seems like I should take it, right? My main SS is Jeter, and I have Reid Brignac and/or Nick Punto to fill the 2B/SS spot if I offload Betancourt - not great options I know but there is no one on the waiver wire in this league (I mean no one). I don't have a logjam at the UTIL spot, so it would be fine to play Hafner there.

just hit his 2nd HR
I'm liking what I see, so I've just snagged him in my money league to replace David Murphy on my farm squad.

My money league is an OBP league, so I'm going to follow my own, earlier advice... if you have OBP, I think the gamble is limited...

But, Travis - in this first few days - is looking like the kind of player he was in 2007-2008. That's certainly an upgrade over Murphy, who will be sharing a lot of playing time this year.

for obp leagues...
I think he is still a very viable option... look at his OBP the last 5 years (other than last year)... still, pretty stellar... and as he is going very late in drafts and most folks seem to be avoiding him... he is definitely worth a flyer if he earns a roster spot -- especially in OBP leagues
