span is the better player |
Span is the better overall player... but it is hard to just throw away Taveras. I am certain you could trade Taveras to a team that needs SBs in exchange for one of your other needs... don't just throw him away.

He will get to start regularly no matter what. He is the Twins only good leadoff option and, as he has shown last yr and early on this season, the guy can hit. A possible S. Victorino. I have him in multiple leagues. He shouldn't kill you in AVG and OPS like Taveras. Plus, you won't really lose that many steals.

Span on the wire or Taveras on my Bench?

I think I go with Schaefer because the competition that takes away playing time from both these guys is less on the Braves. Gregor Blanco and Matt Diaz are not likely to take a lot of time away from Jordan, I don't think.
However, Chris Duncan and Rick Ankiel in the mix in the Cards' outfield should significantly affect Colby's playing time.
Colby is certainly the more exciting player who should put up bigger numbers over the long run... but with fewer ABs, it's harder to go with him. As it is a keeper league, I probably side with Colby.
If you don't need either, I would probably gamble with Colby just for the hype... and, if while he is stashed on your roster, Duncan or Ankiel slump something awful, then Colby's immediate value increases substantially.

I grabbed Both on waivers I see your rookie line below. Head to head keeper league. I don't really need either right now as set with OF and utility pos. If I needed to drop one at some point to make a roster move which one would you keep over the other?

Players only appear on playertrack once they have appeared in the majors... so, let that be a lesson for you as it relates to my fantasy philosophy which has worked well for me... don't rely on any player who hasn't played any time in the majors.

Zimmerman is as much as a gamble as Spilborghs or Span, so you're just playing Fantasy Roulette.
If you need pitching (and you are desperate), I might consider ir and dump Spilborghs is you neeed SBs and dump Spilborghs if you need SBs... but if I already had a solid corp of veteran starters, this is a gamble that I don't take.

Someone dropped Jordan Zimmerman who in my keeper league. He is considered by many experts to be the front runner for rookie of the year. I am thinking I should use my waiver to get him and drop either Span or Spilborghs, since I have 5 other very good OF's. I like both OFs a lot, but getting a potential young bigtime talent at SP is enticing. Should I hold out and keep these two OFs. They could gain increased value down the road for trades. I would have added this comment under J. Zimmerman, but he doesn't seem to show up on the site. >:P Thanks!
