think you're being a bit optimistic there
with the OPS figure... this year's ABs almost constitutes almost a third of his entire career, so I don't think his "career OPS" is a good measure.

Fact is, that anyone who has him got a TON of value with him and will continue to do so (being as he was likely a free agent callup ior reserve pick in multi-leagues)... but, he isn't as good s he has been in the average department.

Take away his 1.047 OPS this year through 6-1, and it is more likely .800 given a full season. I agree that this is still very good.

his career OPS vs right handed pitching is .922, I don't think there will be much drop off at all since he pretty much only plays against righties. there's only 13 guys that even have that high of an OPS this year, Joyce being one of them.

as a #4, #5
he is great, and that's where folks would have drafted him, if he was drafted at all. On that basis, I agree.

But, since he is going to hit for junk in the average department for the remainder of the year (he'll probably hit in the .250s the rest of the way), if I needed pitching, I'd try to maximize value for Joyce now and get an OF who will hit in the .270s.

Will be interesting to see how he will pan out, but .416 BABIP, 79% contact rate, and .241 average in 216 ABs last year tell us all we need to know.

whoops, meant he destroys right handed PITCHING.

Joyce is absolutely legit in my opinion. He rarely gets a start vs left handed pitching, and he destroys right handed hitters. I'd ride him all year unless Madden gets the foolish idea to start starting him against lefties.

he is sure is living up to his rule of 27 year
This being said, he had a .444 BABIP through May 5th. I suspect that this has not fallen substantially since his average has actually gotten BETTER since then, and he has hit 5 HRs since then.

I don't have him in any of my leagues, but if I would did, I would try to sell him at the highest value.
