The problem last year is that he was caught stealing over 50% of the time that he ran vs. under 20% the previous year. He has had an assortment of leg injuries over the last five or so years, so it could be that age has finally caught up to him... with the SBs, I would still be high on him as an endgame, cheap 5th OF. Without the SBs, I probably avoid him in 2011.

Message #11 by Rob Reed @ August 6, 2010, 03:50pm Ranked 41st overall through August 4th, and I think he'll end the season higher... so, once again, seeing folks drafting him i the 10th round of drafts was ridiculous... he is a top 5 round fantasy player, easily, and once again... he's proving it.

I have good pitching but needed offense and no one was dealing offense at all this year. Losing Heywerd and falling to far out of the league I needed to get some help somewhere.

Message #4 by Rob Reed @ December 8, 2009, 04:21pm Injury curtailed a stellar season... once again, if the folks in your league believe Torii is overrated, get him for cheap. A bargain might still be had because his stellar stats in 2009 are hidden as a result of his missing over a month due to a groin injury. He had a pretty bad September... let that negatively influence others in your league to your advantage.

I recently was talking a baseballgeeks listener in a chatroom who hails from Minnesota who actually wasn't much of a fan, either, and in fact went out of his way to say that he (a Twin fan) thinks Torii is overrrated, too. Your stat projection is what anybody should expect, and I absolutely agree that as a 5th OF, you can't do much better.
