From today's blog entry on luckiest hitters...
Hype-machined last season big-time. And, for a rookie, he was very solid... not the juggernaut just yet that some were expecting right out of the gate.

For the slim position of catcher, he is a great option, and the stint in 2009 should have built up his confidence nicely. Only 24 years old, and he has a lot of great years ahead of him.

Solid hitter at Georgia Tech and through his brief minor league career (mostly in A+ and AA). Ability to take a walk in his amateur career makes him super promising.

Still, I could see a .265-.275 average in 2010... but, at catcher, with these power numbers, he's a good bet.

one catcher league?
im assuming a one catcher league, in which case, you would be crazy to trade price for wieters, in my opinion...

napoli is good enough for you

price for Wieters???
I drafted Price and stashed him on my bench thus far. I currently have Mike Napoli as my only catcher... which is a nightmare because he plays about 2/3 of the time.... although I do like him. Is it worth it to trade Price for Wieters to shore up my catching spot, or is better to hold the Pitcher... that has proven he can Rip in the Major leagues?

definitely
it's called an investment... if you stashed him away, you have no choice now... you are stuck

but he should be very good at the position the rest of the way

How about now...
I drafted and stashed him on the bench...Got the call up today. Do I start him?

Here is your catcher risk pick du jour
Lots of hype on this guy with NO major league experience, but he tore up all levels that he has participated in. Looks to have a ton of power, but he is currently not guaranteed a starting/primary job.

He is going as high as 10th round in mock drafts.

Reserve judgment as the offseason progresses. Monitor his spring. I'm sure we'll continue the discussion on this guy as the season gets closer.

As he is a catcher, it is hard for me to reserve judgment. I'm not a fan of grabbing catchers high or for a lot of money, even with position scarcity, because catcher stats -- generally -- are just plain ugly.
