Belliard simply did not get the playing time, but he posted very similar numbers in almost the same number of at bats. If Belliard wins the starting gig over Dewitt, he is roster worthy in very deep leagues at the 2/S spot.

Message #1 by Rob Reed @ February 1, 2009, 09:40pm Definite sleeper On CBS Sportsline's depth charts as of this second, Belliard is listed as the backup to Anderson Hernandez (http://www.playertrack.com/profile.pl?1291). Hernandez has very limited experience... and his .333 avg was definitely inflated by a .370+ BABIP in 80 some ABs. Belliard was on the verge of a career year last season... I like the guy for his multi-position eligibility in particular, but also for his 80%-85% contact rates, and an impressive OBP last season. Will be competing for the 2B spot, but my money is on him to win it... there is potential here for .285, 20 HR, 80 RBI, 75 R, and 5 SB... and this can be had in the last round of a serpentine draft and for $1 in auction drafts. Great value pick. Monitor the spring 2B position battle closely.
