Message #2 by Rob Reed @ March 14, 2009, 09:24am looking for sleeper power? As you can read in the previous message, I picked Rivera to break out last year, but he just couldn't get the ABs. THIS year, he is the starting DH, and he should get plenty of spot starts in the outfield. If you are looking for a player who will likely surprise many this year, I don't think you need to look much farther than Juan. Take a look at his breakout 2006. What happened? Well, he suffered a major break to his leg in the Winter leagues that kept him out for almost all of 2007, and he was still suffering some lingering effects last season.

Message #1 by Rob Reed @ 3/11/08, 3:27pm Sleeper written all over him... Nobody but me, it seems, is thinking about this guy this year for fantasy. Granted, the Angels' acquisition of Torii Hunter hurt his chances to start substantially. However, the Angels are fooling around with Rivera at 1B right now. Good for Rivera and anyone who drafts him. Bad for Kotchman owners. Personally, I have a feeling that Garrett Anderson will end up as the off the bench guy with Rivera starting substantially at DH. Add spot starts at 1B, and qualification at OF... Then, look at his 2006 stats, and you can't help but see only good things here. My suggestion is draft this guy late so that nobody can pick him up off the wires when he starts tearing it up.
