not a surprise to me...
just look at what I said a year ago (do you hear the toot? that's my horn)...

confidence built up last year... yes, he was luckier than most pitchers, and he is probably, still, a low 4s ERA pitcher... but, while I predict a drop in his stats in 2010, we should see steady improvement from 2010 on...

The good news? A move to the NL west, where he contends with two teams in pitcher parks... and faces a pitcher batting against him.

The bad news? I suspect folks are going to pay too much for Edwin next year, so on that note, I offer a warning... anything more than $8 for Edwin in a multi-league is a mistake. He is probably worth $12-$15 in an NL-only.

hmmmm...
are you paying attention? he has been pretty darn good...

Some thoughts...
Edwin was mentioned in a recent thread at fantasybaseballgenerals.com, and I gave him some support.

Here is what I posted:

I’ll throw my hat in the ring and give Edwin Jackson some support (and Derek some fodder). It isn’t like Jackson is ancient. He’s only 24.

He has improved each of the last three years — EXCEPT, most notably, his strikeouts dwindled last year.

I think Jackson needs some solid coaching and needs to learn more about studying batters. But, being as he is still so young, I can definitely see improvement.

Is he a guy I’m going after in a 2009 draft? No.

Is he a solid endgame, taxi squad flyer pick? Absolutely. His ERA, WHIP, and BABIP have all improved each of the last three years. That, to me, is a good sign that he is maturing as a pitcher… and just might ultimately become a reasonable #3 in the next few years (3.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 13-15 W).

Actually, he is 25 this year, I think. So, I gave him an extra year, but I still stand by what I said.
