his latest outing
should make you feel better... granted, it was the Royals... but looking at his peripherals here, a high BABIP and a very low strand rate = bad luck in the month of April.

His control appeared back yesterday, so all cylinders are go with the Peav.

next update will tell us more
but I did a quick BABIP analysis on Jake, and it's a low .255 despite his having been crushed this season.

The strikeouts make me very hopeful for potential value, and I think (to me) it is obvious that he will improve the rest of the way...

But his bad start was not the result of incredible bad luck... it is a result of bad control (1:1 K/BB ratio).

His value will be no lower this year. Would I target him? If I need K's, yes.

Jake Peavy
Is he a buy low candidate after the terrible start

Message #3 by Rob Reed @ March 16, 2010, 09:27pm
everything to like...
a few months ago, he was an afterthought... I have noticed that is on just about everybody's radar again. His peripherals were too good last year, notwithstanding the short amount of innings...

I'm most excited about the K/9... all systems go with the Peave.

Re: I think his ERA
Well, he posted even better than 2005. He is the guy I will be looking to snag as my #1 pitcher in all leagues and formats.

I think is ERA
will fall somewhere between 2005's & 2006 ERA in 2007. The question? Will he stay healthy enough to put in 200 plus innings like he has done the previous 2 seasons?
