i like it
i like this deal for you if you need Sbs and runs... you have little to lose at this point... to me, Billingsley is much better than he has been lately. If you have pitching categories shored up, and need SBs and runs, this is a good deal. Vast improvement in the slim position of C, too...

Need advice
Hello,

In my keeper league (Roto 6X6 OPS and QS are extra categories), I am being offered J. Rollins (need some steals and runs), V. Martinez (have G. Soto in part-time duty), C. Billingsley, a closer of my choosing (all decent options), and C. Tillman for only Lincecum. I can only keep Lincecum for one more year (same as Billingsley; I would also keep C. Tillman as a free keeper (does not count against my 9 max).

While I am in third place with an outside shot of moving up to win the league (though the top team in 19 points above me), the other manager is out of it and is looking to add Lincecum to his keeper core. I think this could be a no-brainer, but I am not 100% sure this would help me win it all for sure, despite the players (with only 5 weeks or so left in the season; over one week early for us). I don't know if Billingsley and Tillman next year will make up for the loss of Lincecum (cannot or would not keep any of the other players offered in the trade). Along with my keeper hitters, I will also likely keep as SP's, Carpenter and Verlander, both at great value (draft position wise). What do people think? Would you take a chance and pull the trigger?

Thanks!

Stud
From a blog entry I posted today on ERA and FIP at http://www.playertrack.com/blog.pl?7:

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. This guy's mechanics scare the bejeebus out of me. But he was flat-out amazing. The only downside is the team he plays for, but he still had 18 W, notwithstanding.

I drafted him for only $7 last year in my money league, and I ended up trading him (because I had Peavy and Sabathia and I needed power) for Chase Utley (since the hip surgery, you can bet I'm not happy with this deal now).

Barring injury (like from getting his hand caught in his butt during his delivery), he should be considered one of the most valuable pitchers in baseball going into 2009.

I traded him mid-season
Man, after looking at the rankings, I really wish that I had kept this guy. I could have kept him in 2009 for $12 (bought him at auction for $7).

Couple him with a $23 CC Sabathia, and my pitching would have a wonderful anchor.

Who did I get for Lincecum? A $20 Chase Utley, who I can keep for $25 next year.

If Lincecum does throw his arm out (and I don't see this as completely out of the question because of his very strange delivery), I'll feel much better with the best 2B in the game.

Ouch!
I posted this at kobayashibaseball.blogspot.com today, and it is so true.

I own Lincecum in two leagues. I am very happy.

I watched Lincecum pitch well against my Dodgers. I winced everytime he threw the ball, as if he was reaching into his ass to pull the ball out.

Each time I focused on the delivery, I winced and shouted to the tv screen: "You're gonna throw your arm off, you idiot!"

So, I'm glad I own Lincecum. And, I am GLAD Dish Network does not offer the MLB Extra Innings package.
