Keepers
There is no MI spot and one utility. With Hanley there is Bartlett still worth keeping for Utility? Or maybe swap him for Aardsma? I always get screwed on saves I know I shouldnt chase.

thinking about it...
Asdrubal is a bit of overkill, too... you could free up even more money by just keeping Hanley at SS... Asdrubal and Hanley would be a good 1-2 (SS, MI), though...

keepers
Asdrubal Cabrera 10
Hanley Ramirez 45
Adam Jones 10
Adam Lind 10
Grady Sizemore 10
Raul Ibanez 10
Francisco Rodriguez 9
Matt Garza 9
Jason Bartlett 10
Scott Baker 10
Jon Lester 7

I keep these guys... you have spent $140 - have $120 to go to snag 11 more players at just over $10/player -- look for Nyjer or Rajai to replace B.J. if you can't get him... if Ellsbury is out there, I'd bid fairly high for him to get you some steals.

This is a strong start... you could dump Bartlett to free up a bit more money (because you have a lot committed to Hanley)... I'm not convinced on Bartlett, but shortstop is slim, and that's a low price considering what he did last year.

Glad I asked. Auctions are new to me this year. I will send prices in a bit I would think you will tell me to throw a few more back.

I should add...
I just spotted two OF players in the overall rankings who were just as good as B.J. last year and who could be just as good this year (and cheaper): Nyjer Morgan and Rajai Davis.

yikes
$170 in the whole with 10 players to go? Just because 12 keepers is on the agenda, I'm not sure I would commit that much money on all of these guys... You are handcuffed at less than $9 per remaining player and you need average and power help.

I'm assuming you got Baker, Lester, Aardsma, Lind, Adam Jones, and Asdrubal for cheap... that would be a good keeper start. I think Wright would go for at least $5 less than $37 at a draft... you know your league mates better than me, but I don't think anybody would pay $37 for Wright in my 10-team auction money league this year.

Sizemore will likely go cheaper, too (I suspect that you paid bank for him last year).

Bottom line: B.J. is not worth $27 in a multi-league 12 teamer, in my opinion... average is potentially too low. So, I wouldn't fork over that money for him... at worst, you could let him go to bid, and cap yourself at $27 and let someone else pay more, freeing up more value for you in future picks.

I keep the few (presumably cheap) players you listed above and Hanley.

Part of what is leading me to keep Upton is its a 10 team league with 22 rounds so there will still be some talent left out there even after the draft?

I am in a 12 team keeper auction league where you can keep up to 12 players. $260 cap. The 12 players I was thinking of keeping will bring me in around $170. That would be throwing back Upton at $29 keeping Wright at $37? If I did keep Upton it would most likely be Asdrubal or Gavin Floyd back at $10. What would you do? Hitters I was keeping were Wright-G Sizemore-Lind-Hanley-Adam Jones-Asdrubal. Pitchers Lester-Baker-Lee-Floyd-Krod-AArdsma. Kind of new to Auction leagues for baseball.

overvaluing seems to continue
B.J. is getting a lot of looks here at PLAYERtrack, as he has consistently been one of the most popular player profiles here. And, why not? The hype machine on the internet has been full force since the end of his 2007 season.

As far as I am concerned, the peripheral stats indicate that the stats you can expect are exactly between his 2009 and 2008 seasons. 2007 was an aberration, according to the peripherals.

There is reason for optimism, however, because he will only turn 26 next August. Arguably, if you are a Rule of 27 proponent, he hasn't reached his peak.

The peripherals, though, show he may have reached his peak in '07.

In a mock draft last night that I participated in, he was the 62nd pick. That's about right because of his SB numbers.
