Yanks get their street cred back
From a blog entry I posted today on ERA and FIP at http://www.playertrack.com/blog.pl?7:

I left him for dead in April. He made me look like a moron. And, as I kept him in my money league and will likely keep him for $23 in 2009, the wounds to my ego were not too serious.

The trade to the Yankees makes me think that an ERA regression to somewhere around 3.20 is reasonable. But, he still is one of the best pitchers in the game right now. His K/9 went up and he posted a career high 2.70 ERA after that ridiculously bad April. His 2008 FIP? 2.89. His 2007 FIP was 3.00 (2007 ERA = 3.21).

Call it Zambrano syndrome
Zambrano got it together. I'm thinking the same for Sabathia... but, rest assured, I was very comfortable saying this for the first two and a half months of the season as a non-Zambrano owner.

Now that I own Sabathia, I'm second guessing myself if this is a case of wishful thinking.

Plain and simple, Sabathia is staying active for me until further notice.

???????
What is wrong with Sabathia this year? Dead arm or too much pressure to perform in a contract year? Or maybe both?

Re: Not Ranked
Hi John:

There was a bug in the "in season" statistics chewer that I hope to fix this year... sorry about that. As you can see in the final rankings, he sits at #3/#2.

Not Ranked?
Why isn't he ranked in your pitcher's rankings? He's better than Jeremy Sowers (currently #139) isn't he?

Torched?
Actually, last season, he was VERY consistent. It was the bullpen that killed him.

I have decided that I am keeping him for $13 in my AL/NL 5x5.

Will the real C. C. please stand up?
At times the youngveteran has filled the role of staff ace, even if it is by default. At times, he looks like an ace! At times, he gets torched! Which CC will show up next?
