This week's TOT is a pitcher who has shown signs of nice fantasy value, but who has suffered from injury... he did not play all of last season with a torn labrum that required surgery.
Yet, in 2006 (189.1 innings), he had a respectable WHIP or 1.28, and he followed it up with a 1.27 WHIP in 2007 in 195.2 innings. His average ERA from 2006 to 2007 was about 3.50. He also averaged a K/9 among those two seasons of about 7.
His FIP numbers? 3.31 in 2007. 3.61 in 2006.
See what I mean?

I am working on the new draft kit rankings that will rank pitchers AND hitters together according to their point value. This is my next project and should be complete within the next week, if not sooner.
For today, I'm excited to announce some new statistical additions that have been on my "to-do" list and have finally been completed.
For pitching, I have added HR/9. So, now you can use K/9, HR/9, and K/BB to identify pitchers that meet Ron Shandler's LIMA plan.
For hitting, I have added ISO (isolated power, determines a player's ability to hit for extra bases), AB/HR... [read more] |

149 G, 571 AB, .285 AVG, .351 OBP, 87 R, 20 HR, 82 RBI, 11 SB, 4 CS, 100 K, .391 SLG%, 0.742 OPS, 82% CONTACT, .316 BABIP (113 total batters)
For the default ranking for pitchers (150 IP), this is the benchmark:

This week for TOTS Tuesday, I give you the easiest of the lot thus far... easiest because you will likely be able to guess the player once I tell you that we are talking a meteroic rise in the rankings from the previous season. There are only a handful of these guys, so, when I tell you it is an offensive player, I suspect that you are now thinking of five or fewer players.
It's one of those guys.
Before last year, he had only limited time in the bigs, and what he did show was terribly inconsistent.
In 2006, this player... [read more] |
