Comments on: The Final Bloomberg Squad
by: Rob Reed | March 15, 2010, 8:21pm

The Bloomberg "Experts vs. Regulars" draft is complete... it took just about four hours. The experts field is comprised of Ron Shandler, Lawr Michaels, Tim Heaney, Steve Gardner, Harold Reynolds, and Derek Van Riper...

All in all, I think I did very well... the coolest tool that I found helpful with the Bloomberg fantasy tools was the ability to see who was in a contract year on the fly... that was very helpful in making final decisions.

Here is my final roster. Of course, I used PlayerTrack and its nix tools to keep clarity, but Bloomberg's set of tools are very fun and easy to use. In the end, I'm very happy with this draft.

1B Derrek Lee (7, #76)
2B Aaron Hill (5, #52)
SS Yunel Escobar (12, #141)
3B Garrett Atkins (24, #285)
MI Casey Mcgehee (15, #172)
CI Lance Berkman (9, #100)
  C Russell Martin (10, #117)
  C Dioner Navarro (21, #244)
OF Ryan Braun (1, #4)
OF Jacoby Ellsbury (2, #21)
OF Grady Sizemore (3, #28)
OF Torii Hunter (8, #93)
OF Corey Hart (20, #237)
  P Johan Santana (4, #45)
  P Javier Vazquez (6, #69)
  P Jose Valverde (11, #124)
  P Billy Wagner (13, #148)
  P Francisco Liriano (14, #165)
  P Ted Lilly (16, #189)
  P Erik Bedard (18, #213)
  P Octavio Dotel (19, #220)
  P Chris Young (23, #268)
BE Rafael Furcal (17, #196)
BE Aubrey Huff (22, #261)
BE Randy Wells (25, #292)
BE Brett Gardner (26, #309)
BE Mark Teahen (27, #316)
BE Edwin Encarnacion (28, #333)

Most last-minute pick: Last one... I was answering a Bearlo question about Edwin with the complete mindset to end with Ryan Raburn. The fact is that Ryan has not secured a roster spot, and there may not be a spot available for him on the starting roster... so, Edwin made MUCH more sense (starting gig, rule of 27 AND contract year)

Biggest Regret: I have had the tendency the last two years to pick pitchers coming off of injury and expecting big things... this is the case with Chris Young, Francisco Liriano, and Billy Wagner. I think I regret picking Dotel as my third closer... still, it is always nice to have three (potentially four with Liriano) closers in a 12-team league.

Biggest value: Garrett Atkins. He is one-year removed from a 21-99 season, and - believe it or not - Camden Yards was a better HR park than Coors Field last year!

Thanks to the folks at Bloomberg for allowing me to participate. Wish me luck!
